We're Off!

Today we finally threw off the lines and headed out to "sea", well, to a nice anchorage anyway. We left Olverson's about 10:30 am and dropped the hook in Jutland Creek about 2 hours later. The short trip let the crew get back into the swing of things and allowed us to make sure all systems were go. They were.

Dyna found the cool spot and settled in for the duration. Dylan started his lookout for dolphins - none spotted yet.

And of course Jeff got to play with all of his electronic toys, I mean, the critical new safety gear. That's the new software he's working on running on an iPad, an iPhone, and a Nexus 7. Cool!

It feels good to be cruising again. The anchorage is peaceful and calm. Tomorrow is a longer day. We need to be tucked in by mid-afternoon as they're predicting a bit of a blow.

So we've officially started our 2012-2013 cruise. We just don't know where it will end. That's the good part!

Great to hear! I've recently began following your blog and look forward to your cruising adventures. My wife and I will be setting sail in three years when I retire.

Karen &Jeff,
The kids look like they're right back into the swing of things. We're waiting out the storm in Galesville on the West River. If weather permits, Wednesday we plan to go through Knapps Narrows and up to San Domingo Creek near Saint Michaels. We hope you guys have a good time at the shows.
Fair winds & Smooth sailing,

Hi Elaine & Lawrence - we're on the eastern shore off Leadenham Creek for this coming storm. It looks bad for Tuesday evening - yikes. We'll be on the Rhode River all of next week. Looks like we're criss-crossing...

Are you and the pups going to the SSCA Gam?

Dyna & Dylan go everywhere we go...but they're not allowed at Camp Letts so they won't be onshore at the gam. We'll take them to other places by dinghy and they'll hang out on the boat.

But we'll be at the gam - we're giving a couple of presentations there.

I see that Dyna and Dylan are sporting a harness with a handle. Is this a store-bought item and if so, can you tell me what brand and where did you get it. Murphy has been looking for something similar to wear. Look forward to meeting you at the gam.

Kathy - those are made by Kong. We just got them earlier in the year. We've always had harnesses on the dogs whenever we're underway (or they're in the dinghy). These new ones are really nice because they attach with velcro and have that nice handle. It's just a matter of time before we pull one of them out of the water - it's happened before...

When I wrote velcro above, I didn't mean velcro. I meant that there are 2 clips instead of 1.

Most harnesses have 1 clip. When you unclip it, you have to lift a paw to get it over their head. With this new harness, 2 clips allow the harness to be put on or taken off without lifting or otherwise disturbing a badly behaving dog (like Dylan...).
